From Lukla, this trek starts to gain pace and will lead you through the quaint settlements like Phakding and Namche Bazar. These villages are filled with people of the Sherpa community and their culture is something to admire. Navigate along the religious villages like Tengboche and Dingboche to find the meaning of Buddhism. Walk along the Imja river valley to reach the Everest Base camp. The base camp is an exquisite place to observe the grandeur of the Himalayas. First, we will walk along the glacial moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier and have the courage to cross the Cho La pass. From here, it is a short walk to Gokyo lake and later, Gokyo Ri. After relishing at the sight of the mountains, we will head to Lunde by crossing the Renjo La pass. This trek is comparatively difficult and it demands proper strength and endurance. You will need to acclimatize properly and learn to use the trekking equipment too. Gokyo Choola Pass via Everest Base Camp is full of turquoise lakes and Cho La Pass across the beautiful Gokyo Valley. The panoramic landmark of fabulous Khumbu areas is full of dynamic mountains, majestic snowy trains, centuries-old Buddhist monuments, and many fabulous outlets. Namche Bazaar is a local bazaar which is also the point of attraction due to its local market, lodges, hotels of Sherpas and traditional Gompas.

What to expect ?

This trek takes place in the Khumbu region, which is pretty acclaimed throughout the world. You’ll get to witness the fantastic Sherpa culture that has deep Buddhist roots which can be seen in the monasteries in Tengboche, Dingboche, and Pangboche. The Gokyo lakes can also be seen during your visit and they too are a sight to behold. You’ll witness the amazing mountains like Everest, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku from the Everest base camp and finally, you will cross the Cho La Pass.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,315m/4,314ft) pick up & transfer to hotel

You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu where our representative will greet you. From there, you will be transferred to your hotel. At the hotel, you will take part in an introductory session and you will get to know the guides who will accompany you during the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu. 


Day 02: In Kathmandu trek preparation & culture heritage tour

During your first day in Nepal, you will be exploring the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites and visiting the quaint settlements in the periphery of the valley. You will learn about the culture and traditions that are found in the sites like Boudhanath and Swayambhunath, plus you will visit the revered Pashupatinath.Overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,840m/9,318ft) trek to Phakding (2,640m/8,690ft) 3-4 hrs trek

Our morning starts with a quick flight to Lukla. It is often called as the gateway of the Everest region and it takes us about 45 minutes to reach there from Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Lukla, we will collect your things and commence the trek to Phakding. We need to walk through dense forests and uphill trails to reach this village. It is necessary to walk along the Dudh Koshi river too. After an easy walk, we arrive at Phakding, Overnight in Phakding.


Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazar (3,440m/11,280ft) 5-6 hrs trek

Namche bazaar is a major settlement in the Everest region. This village is a booming trade hub as well. It is our destination for the day. To reach here, we need to traverse the rocky trails that go along with the Dudh Koshi River. We shall get our permits checked at Jorsale and after it is done, we will have lunch and then enter the Sagarmatha National park. At Namche, we can see many tourists and blue tinned roofs. Overnight in Namche Bazar. 


Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar hike to Syangbuche

A day for acclimatization is necessary in order to prepare for the long walk ahead. We shall spend an extra day in Namche bazaar for that purpose. We can take a quick stroll to visit places like the Khumjung monastery or travel to the Hotel Everest view. If you fancy a short hike, then there is the option to go to Syangbuche. Overnight in Syangbuche.


Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,867m/12,684ft) 5-6 hrs trek

From Namche Bazar, our road leads us to Tengboche. It is a small Buddhist settlement which houses the famous Tengboche monastery. This monastery is the most important one in the Khumbu region and many tourists visit this place to pray. As we walk along the frosty trail, we will reach Tengboche. From the monastery, we can see the beautiful peaks like Everest, Thamserku, and Nuptse. Overnight in Tengboche. 


Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,350m/14,271ft) 5 hrs trek

From Tengboche, our trail takes us to Dingboche. This is another Buddhist settlement that is primarily inhabited by the Sherpa people. The trail passes the Imja Khola and gives us an amazing view of the mountains that decorate the Khumbu region. We shall reach Pangboche initially and there, we shall visit the monastery. It is the most important one of its kind. The trail now climbs a mountain and from Shomare, we can see the trail changing color. We finally arrive at Dingboche and rest at a teahouse. Overnight in Dingboche. 


Day 08: Acclimatization day at Dingboche hiking around the valley

A day is separated for acclimatization in Dingboche and it can be spent by climbing the Nagerjun hill which lies near Dingboche. The trail is relatively steep and it gives us an amazing picture of the surroundings. We can see mountains like Lobuche East, Lobuche West, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and even the Pheriche valley. After hiking, we will take some time to learn the culture and traditions of the locals. Overnight in Dingboche. 


Day 09: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,931m/16,177ft) 6 hrs trek

The trail takes us through yak pastures and ridges that provide a stunning view of the Taboche peak and Cholatse Mountain. We need to cross a stream at Dulgha before climbing a steep terminal moraine at the Khumbu glacier. We will pass a memorial shrine and after walking for a few hours, we reach Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche. 


Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5170m/16962ft) to Everest base camp (5364m/17598ft) 7 hrs trek

To reach Gorakshep, we need to walk on the moraine of the Khumbu glacier. We can see signposts along the way too. As we proceed ahead, the mountains become much clearer. We walk along the Changri glacier and reah Gorakshep. This was once a vast lake. After resting for a while, we will head out to the Everest base camp. The base camp gives us amazing views of Everest and other snow-laden mountains. There are small camps too. We will spend some time there and head back to Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.


Day 11: Visit Kalapatthar (5545m/18193ft) trek to Dzonglha (4,860m/15,944ft) 5-6 hrs trek

The next day, we shall wake up very early and head out to observe the beautiful sunrise from the vantage point at Kalapatthar. The Mountain View includes mountains like Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse. After observing the sunrise, we will head back to Gorakshep and then begin the walk to Dzonglha. It is a small village that consists mostly of Sherpa people. Overnight in Dzonglha. 


Day 12: Dzonglha to Thanknak (4,830m/15,847ft) over the Cho-la pass 6-7 hrs treks

Today, we shall cross the dangerous Cho la pass. It is the toughest aspect of the trek. The trail meanders through ice paths and steep trails. To conquer the pass, we need to walk very carefully. From the summit of the pass, we’ll be greeted with delightful views of Cholatse, Chola Lake, and Ama Dablam. After crossing the pass, we will slowly make we way down towards Thanknak. This settlement is decorated by prayer flags and small monasteries. Overnight in Thanknak.


Day 13: Thanknak to Gokyo (4790m/15155ft) 3-4 hrs trek

The next destination is Gokyo. This is a major tourist destination as well. The trail to Gokyo goes along the Ngozumba glacier and it climbs the Gokyo Lake as well. As we walk along the frosty trail, we will reach Gokyo. There are many lakes here and in the peak of winter, they freeze solid. Overnight in Gokyo.


Day 14: Explore a day in Gokyo Lake and climb up to Gokyo Ri

Today we shall further explore Gokyo Lake. These lakes turn to ice in the peak of winter and are simply mesmerizing. After exploring the lakes, we commence the hike to Gokyo Ri. This is a small hill located near Gokyo that provides us amazing views of the mountains in the Khumbu region. You can interact with the locals in Gokyo as well. Overnight in Gokyo. 


Day 15: Gokyo to Dole

This day will give the great mountain view of Cho Oyu ranges, and along the slipping and snowing ways we will explore lakes and small glaciers. Snowfalls are common in this area, so with the breakfast in morning session we will be heading towards the snowfall areas in Dole. Finally, you will be spending overnight at Dole.  


Day 16: Dole to Namche (2,835m) 6 hrs trek

With the breakfast in the morning session we will be heading towards Namche. It will take us around 6 hours of trekking to reach Namche from snowy routes of Dole. So, during the trekking routes we will see the dense and colorful Rhododendron forests towards the trails of Phortse Tenga. We will see real beauty of small snowy layers, trees with snowy and watery coverings, etc towards the destination point. Hence, we will be staying overnight at the hotel. 


Day 17: Namche to Lukla 3-4 hrs

The road to Lukla sees a gradual decrease in elevation and it may take us somewhere between 5 hours to complete the trek. The trail is mostly downhill and involves walking through the well-marked trails. The Dudh Koshi River is our constant companion during this trek. We shall exit the Sagarmatha National Park today. After a quick lunch break at Phakding, we will continue the journey to Lukla. Once at Lukla, we can take a much-needed rest. Overnight in Lukla. 


Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu transfer to hotel

The flight to Kathmandu from Lukla starts early and it depends upon the weather conditions as well. Get on an airplane and head back to Kathmandu while admiring the stunning view of the Khumbu region. The flight takes about 45 minutes. Once you reach Kathmandu, head to your hotel. You can do some last-minute shopping as well. The company will host you a farewell dinner too. Overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 19: Final departure

Today you will depart from Kathmandu and head to your country. Our representative will drop you off at the airport. Our staff will have a brief session with you before you depart. Thank you for traveling with us and we hope to see you again.
